Things to do
There’s always something to enjoy at EHPPS!
Whether you're meeting our friendly horses and ponies, joining in on a family open day, or taking part in one of our hands-on activities, there’s plenty to see and do for visitors of all ages.
From peaceful countryside walks to fun-filled events, your visit helps support our work - and creates lasting memories along the way.
Groom-a-pony
You must PRE-BOOK for £10 a session. Limited availability (6 sessions available) - to prebook please email events@ehpps.org.uk - slots may be available on the day if bookings allow. These sessions are only available at our open days.
Participants in Groom-a-Pony must be aged 6 years or over.
Each session is 20 minutes long, and a member of our team will accompany you and guide you through the grooming process. You will be required to wear a riding hat (we can supply one) during the course of the session as a precaution - we choose horses and ponies that have a suitable temperament for these sessions but horses are naturally unpredictable and every precaution must be taken. SENSIBLE FOOTWEAR IS A MUST during these sessions as you will be taken into the stable with the horse/pony, which increases the risk of having feet stepped on. Please note: only 6 grooming sessions are available per open day.
Groom-a-pony participants receive a certificate, rosette, booklet and small pony teddy on completion of their grooming session.
Meet the EHPPS horses & ponies
Each of the animals on site has a “history” outside his or her stable telling the story of how they came to be rescued by EHPPS.
Meet the horses, ponies, pigs, goats and chicken and read their stories.
We ask that you refrain from feeding the animals at the sanctuary as some are on special diets. Hand feeding can also create undesirable traits such as biting.
