EMMIE – COMPANION
Breed: Welsh x
Colour: Black
Gender: Mare
Height: 11hh
Date of Birth: 2019
Medical Conditions: None known
Foster Donation: £100
Story: Emmie found her way into the care of Essex Horse & Pony Protection Society via New Hope Animal Rescue in June 2024. She was originally rescued from the meat man with a foal at foot. New Hope took her in to ensure her future. Once her foal was weaned, they then approached EHPPS to see if there was space at the sanctuary where her training could continue and hopefully she could eventually go on to find a home to call her own
Personality: She is a very sensitive soul and will take time and patience to come round to the idea that not all people are horrid. She is getting used to being handled on a regular basis and can now pick up her front hooves to be picked out. She currently requires sedation via the vet to have her hooves trimmed safely.
Experience: She has mainly received handling training. She will be caught and lead comfortably in a headcollar and lead rope but the main focus is teaching her to relax and have her hooves picked out / treated by the farrier.
Type of home: Her training is coming on daily, and we hope to find her the perfect foster family to provide her with the consistent, kind handling she deserves to become a great little pony. She requires someone with the knowledge and experience of handling difficult ponies that understands she is not being ‘naughty’ but that she struggles to learn and cope with these tasks. She loves food and would be a rewarding project for someone who enjoys clicker training.
