MILDRED – COMPANION / RIDDEN PROSPECT

Breed: Cob
Colour: Grey
Gender: Mare
Height: 13hh
Date of Birth: 2019
Medical Conditions: None Known – Currently requires sedation for the farrier whilst handling training continues.
Foster Donation: £170

Story: Mildred was relinquished into our care in September 20204 by a yard owner who had served an abandonment notice on the owner of her and her colt foal. The yard owner was able to keep the foal once the abandonment notice was served but unable to continue looking after the mare.

Personality: She is a sweet and friendly mare that is gradually learning to accept that humans aren’t all bad. She can be very nervous and is rather a quiet soul, but this will change when she eventually comes out of her shell and starts to trust.

Experience: Mildred can be difficult to catch, this can be aided with treats as she is a huge fan of tasty things. Once she is caught, she is good to lead and happy to be brushed. We are currently working with her to pick her legs up, especially her back legs which she can be a little reactive with. However, she is improving daily. She is good with others but also comfortable on her own in the stable. Until she is happily lifting al four feet she continues to be sedated to receive farrier trims.

Type of home: She is looking for a fosterer with patience and a consistent training method. She is a smart little lady who hasn’t had a great start. Once she has found the human to win over her trust this little mare will do anything for them.
