JOSIE – COMPANION

Breed: Shetland Pony
Colour: Brown
Gender: Mare
Height: 9.2hh
Date of Birth: 26 May 2011
Medical Conditions: None Known
Foster Donation: £250

Story: Josie was relinquished from another rescue in March 2024 due to her being a bit of a bully to the other small horses and the rescue having nowhere else in which to accommodate her.

Personality: She is definitely a face puller and has perfected the mare stare. She has never bitten but has been known to kick in the past. She gets on better with the larger horses as she does tend to pick on the smaller ones.  She is a complete saint when living out with the larger horse herd.

Experience: Josie is good to catch and lead but has been known to be strong in hand. She is good with people when out of the herd environment and is super with the farrier and vet. She is not the biggest fan of being taken away from her own kind and behaves better if there are other horses within eyeshot.

Type of home: Josie is looking for a foster family who want to spend their time grooming and fussing over her. A home with just one other horse or pony would probably be best for her with her tendency to dominate.

***If you would like to find out more or think you could give this bossy lass the home she deserves then we ask that you complete a foster application form in the first instance. More information on fostering a pony from us can be found along with a downloadable copy of the foster application at the following link:
