KINDER – RIDDEN PROSPECT

Breed: Trotter
Colour: Skewbald
Gender: Gelding
Height: 14.3hh
Date of Birth: May 2021
Medical Conditions: None Known
Foster Donation: £250

Story: Kinder came into the care of Essex Horse & Pony Protection Society in October 2022 when he was found abandoned in a field. He wasn’t microchipped. Despite attempts to trace an owner on social media, no one came forward to claim him. He was only around a year old and was wearing shoes, it was clear he had been worked at this young age. Worse still is that the shoes appeared to have been fitted by a professional farrier who should have known better than to fit them to one so young.

Personality: He is a gentle natured boy and mixes well within the herd.

Experience: We don’t know what previous experiences this little guy has had before he came into our care, although the shoes would indicate that he has experienced some kind of ridden/driven work. He has recently returned from foster due to an unfortunate change in his fosterer’s circumstances and through no fault of his own. Whilst out with his fosterer he has experienced long reining and been taking for walks along the road. He has also been sat on in preparation for commencing his ridden training next year.

Type of home: Kinder is seeking a home where his fosterers are happy to spend the 6 months to a year working with him on the ground, preparing him for the day he carries a rider. We prefer our horses and ponies to wait until they are a bit older before they learn to carry a rider – they still have so much growing to do at this age, both mentally and physically and we like to prevent complications later in life.

***If you would like to find out more or think you could give this sensitive soul the home he deserves then we ask that you complete a foster application form in the first instance.
